Hoher Bone in the North Rhine-Westphalian Hochsauerlandkreis is both a district in the town of Schmallenberg and a local, two-headed offshoot of the Kahler Asten located in the Rothaargebirge .

The district of Hoher Bone is located in the Sauerland-Rothaargebirge nature park around 2.5 km east of the Schmallenberg district of Westfeld . It is located on the saddle between the Vordersten Hohe Bone ( 764.7  m ) in the northeast and the Hömberg ( 695.4  m ) in the southwest and between the Lenne valleys in the southeast and the Lenne tributary Schwarzes Siepen in the northeast, at 637 up to 650  m above sea level NN ; the Schwarze Siepen is fed by the Rehsiepen tributary, which rises near Hoher bone .

Neighboring towns are the Schmallenberg districts Westfeld in the west and Ohlenbach in the northwest and the Winterberg districts Lenneplätze in the northeast, Neuastenberg in the east, Langewiese in the southeast and Hoheleye in the south.

In addition to a hotel (with swimming pool ), inn and residential building, there has also been a small chapel in Hoher Bone since 1945 . On the outskirts there is a playground and tennis court as well as a water treading pool . The village is a popular destination for hikers. In addition to some hunting lodges in the area, there is an educational forest trail .

The mountain ridge Hoher Bone consists of the Hintersten Hohen Bone , a south- west ridge of the Kahler Asten ( 841.9  m ) in the Astenberg natural area , and the independent mountain ridge of the Vordersten Hohe Bone ( 765.1  m ; 1.39 km dominance ) adjoining it southwest. in the Lennekessel natural area , which are separated from each other by a saddle at 667.3  m with two hunting lodges there and lie between the Lenne and the Schwarzen Siepen. The hamlet of Hoher Bone is located on the southwest slope of the Vordersten , to the southwest, at the end of the ridge, is the Hömberg ( 695.4  m ), which in turn is separated by a saddle at 635.3  m south of the village.
