Lenne 1645, Westphalia Ducatus

In 1072 the name "Leno" is mentioned for the first time in a document from the Grafschaft monastery . Around 150 years later, in 1221, the Lenn village chapel St. Vincentius was first mentioned. A protocol from 1614 in the Lenne parish archives shows that the Wechter farm in Werpe , with its “accessories”, is a legacy of the church in Lenne. This property “was given by a gt. Henricus Plebanus in Grafschektiven & Lenna, who gave Capellen zu Lenna, according to a document, dating from 1221. The colonus gives jaerl of this. lease 3 pounds wax ”. Until 1870, the parish church in Lenne received the wax interest of three pounds of wax from this farm in Werpe. In the course of the 13th century the separation of Grafschaft and Lenne took place, because Lenne is already an independent parish from here on.

In 1645 Lenne was mapped on the Westphalia Ducatus map. In 1817, the 16.7 km² community of Lenne (consisting of Lenne, Milchenbach and Hundesossen) had 390 inhabitants. The bridge over the Lenne was built from 1834 to 1836. In 1843 Lenne was incorporated into the new Kirchhundem office. As part of the municipal reorganization , the municipality of Lenne was divided up on January 1, 1975. Lenne and dog sauces are assigned to the town of Schmallenberg. Milchenbach is incorporated into the city of Lennestadt . In the same year, the Lenn primary school is closed. In 1998 Lenne wins federal silver in the national competition “ Our village should be more beautiful ”.

religion

Today's parish church of St. Vinzentius , a small single-nave building with a retracted rectangular choir and adjoining apse and a west tower, originally consisted of only two bays, which was expanded to include the apse in the 14th century. The west tower and the Emporenjoch were only added in the Baroque era in 1756, for which the previous medieval tower had to give way. During renovation work between 1961 and 1963, large parts of the painting and remnants of younger paintings were made visible again. The vaults are decorated with symbolic trees of life with individual stars. The pulpit and the two side altars clearly show the handwriting of the carver Johann Sasse from Attendorn .
