Master choir

The title Meisterchor is an award for member choirs of the German Choir Association that have successfully passed the association's internal performance singing regulations. It is awarded for five years.

The title of Master Choir comes at the end of a three-stage process. In the master choir singing in the third stage, the participating choir performs a homophonic folk song , a thoroughly composed folk song, an elective choir and an optional choral work. The title is achieved if at least one folk song and one choral work are rated very good and the other two works are rated at least good. The assessment is based on a point system. 25 to 21 points mean very good , 20 to 16 points mean good . The assessment is made by a jury consisting of several people. Evaluation criteria include intonation , tone purity, pronunciation, dynamics, Conception and artistic design of the presented works.
