Ice Cold Passion (Original Title: Final Analysis ) is an American thriller by director Phil Joanou from 1992 with Richard Gere , Kim Basinger and Uma Thurman in the lead roles.

In San Francisco psychiatrist Isaac Barr active treated Diana Baylor, a woman with traumatic memories from her childhood. One day her sister, Heather Evans, comes to his practice to help with the treatment with her knowledge of her childhood. Heather, who is married to a Greek gangster, and Barr start an affair.

One day, Heather gets Barr to touch the bar of a dumbbell that she later uses to murder her husband, Jimmy Evans. In order to collect his $ 4 million life insurance policy, she tries to blame Barr for the murder. To make the plan possible, she let her sister play along. Heather wants to hand over the dumbbell with the fingerprints to the investigating Detective Huggins, but Barr, who recognizes the plot and has also found appropriate evidence, appears at the place of delivery and touches the dumbbell again, so that the plan fails.

Realizing that prison is waiting for her, Heather kidnaps Barr and Huggins to kill them. There is a showdown in a lighthouse and Heather is killed by both of them in self-defense . Following the events, Diana is considered an unwitting tool in her sister's plans after an investigation and is left alone.

Roger Ebert wrote in the Chicago Sun-Times on February 7, 1992 that Hitchcock would like the script. He praised the score for the film and the sex scenes, but criticized the complexity of the plot.

Rita Kempley criticized in the Washington Post on February 7, 1992 that the thriller was implausible . She praised some of the performances ( this film has ... several enjoyable performances ).
