Paul Young Witt
Paul Junge Witt (born March 20, 1941 in New York City , † April 27, 2018 in Los Angeles ) was an American film producer .
Life
Paul Junge Witt studied at the University of Virginia and began his film career in the postal department of Columbia Pictures . In just six months he rose to become a director and producer. One of his greatest hits, the television series Soap , caused a scandal in the United States. It was the first series that starred an openly gay character, played by Billy Crystal . His partners mostly included Tony Thomas and his second wife Susan Harris .
During his career he won three Emmys , two for Golden Girls with other producers and one for Friends to the Death . In 1990 he received a British Academy Film Award for The Dead Poets Club and was also nominated for an Oscar in the category of best film .
