action
In New York in the late 1950s, Diane Arbus, wife of the photographer Allan, mother of two daughters and daughter of a prominent fur fashion tsar and respected member of high society, one day falls head over heels in love with her neighbor Lionel, a rich and charming but head-over-head Wolfmen densely haired to their feet . Lionel encourages Diane through her affair, long conversations and excursions into the world of nudists, dwarfs and freaks in her intention to find her own way as an artist. Diane discovers her talent for photography, which does not make her husband particularly happy.
Reviews
Kirk Honeycutt wrote in the Hollywood Reporter on October 12, 2006 that the concept of the film was in part extremely banal .
The magazine Filmbulletin - Kino im Augenhöhe devoted a detailed essay to the film, in which the film is analyzed as one of those “intermediate creatures” that also interested the photographer Diane Arbus: “More fairy tales than biopic and yet too close to the fairy tale Facts, the film is a curious hybrid, an intermediate being like the transvestites, showmen, the disabled and New York city originals, which Diane Arbus portrayed with preference. "
The lexicon of international films judges: “The key data of the semi-biopic are based on the photographer's life, but otherwise cleverly blurs the boundaries between fiction and truth. A convincing drama about a daring emancipation process in the leading roles. "
