Couchgeflüster - The first therapeutic love comedy (Original title: Prime ) is an American comedy film from 2005 . It was directed by Ben Younger , who also wrote the script . The main roles were played by Uma Thurman and Meryl Streep .

In New York City living, recently divorced, 37-year-old career woman Rafi Gardet seeks help from the psychotherapist Lisa Metzger. Metzger assists Gardet in deciding to have a relationship with a younger man. Only later does it emerge that this very man is Metzger's 23-year-old son David Bloomberg.
The Bloombergs are deeply rooted in Jewish traditions, and David's relationship with a gentile, elderly woman is rejected by the family. Rafi and David fight, in the end they make up.
The film ends a year later after they both separated again. Their looks meet by chance and they review their relationship again.
Reviews
On filmstarts.de the film is described as a "real feel-good movie". It goes on to say that the film is "not business as usual", which is the "greatest compliment" you can give to a romantic comedy.
The cinema magazine Cinema also praises the film and speaks of a "funny comedy full of errors, hearts, pain and great actors".
Glenn Whipp praised the performances of Uma Thurman and Meryl Streep in the Los Angeles Daily News , especially in the first hour of the film.
