Margaret Sixel is an Australian film editor and Oscar winner .

Sixel was initially active as an assistant editor from the mid-1980s. From 1994 several productions followed in which she was involved as an independent editor. The 1997 documentary Australia: 40,000 Years of Dreaming was the first production she worked with director George Miller . This was followed by Piggy Babe in the Big City (1998), Happy Feet (2006) and Mad Max: Fury Road (2015).

Her work on Mad Max: Fury Road taught her the British Academy Film Awards 2016 , the award in the category Best Editing one. In 2016 she was honored in the same category by the American Cinema Editors and the Australian Film Institute . In addition to other awards, she also received the Oscar in the Best Editing category .

Sixel and George Miller are married and have children together.
