Black and Blue - You will not escape me (Alternative title: Enough is enough ; Original title: Black and Blue ) is an American drama directed by Paul Shapiro from 1999 . April Smith's script is based on the novel Black and Blue by Anna Quindlen .

The nurse Frances Benedetto is married to Bobby, a police investigator. Bobby often becomes violent; the abuse has continued for many years. Her husband's relations with the police prevent Frances from filing a criminal complaint.
Frances and her son Robert flee; they hide in a distant place under the false identity. They are trying to make new friends and live normal lives. Frances begins a relationship with the teacher Mike Riordan, who befriends her son. She reveals to Mike that she lives under a false name and that she has fled from her abusive husband.
Robert calls his father; He accuses his shocked mother of lying to him. Bobby finds his family in hiding and beats up Frances. Riordan later finds her bleeding on the floor of her house.
Bobby takes his son with him and goes into hiding. Frances is married to Mike a few years later and has a daughter by him. Years of searching for her son are unsuccessful. One day Robert happened to meet his aunt on the street. In the last scene he calls his mother.
Reviews
The lexicon of international films wrote that the film was “ subtle ”, avoided “ explicit depictions of violence ” and created an “ oppressive atmosphere ”. The script had weaknesses, which would, however, offset the " convincing " performances of the main actors.
The magazine TV direkt described the film as " gripping ".

Will Rothhaar was nominated for the Young Artist Award in 2000.
