Sam Robards

Sam Prideaux Robards (born December 16, 1961 in New York City , New York ) is an American actor .

Life

Robards comes from a family of actors. His grandfather, Jason Robards senior, was an actor, his parents are two-time Oscar winner Jason Robards and Golden Globe winner Lauren Bacall . His half and step siblings are also mostly active in the film industry.

His acting career began in 1980 in the off-Broadway production Album . Robards made his feature film debut in 1982 in Paul Mazursky's The Storm . In 1985 he met Suzy Amis while filming Fandango . They both married a year later. The marriage, which resulted in a child, ended in divorce in 1994. In 1997 he was married to the Danish model Sidsel Jensen in his second marriage . The couple have two children.

Robards has appeared in numerous films so far. Among his most famous films is Robert Altman's Prêt-à-Porter , in which he played alongside his mother and portrayed Harold Ross , the founder of the New Yorker . Other well-known films are Steven Spielberg's A.I. - Artificial Intelligence , Sam Mendes ' American Beauty and Steven Soderbergh's Che - Revolución . In addition, he had numerous guest appearances on television series. He has appeared in Chaos City , The West Wing , Law & Order , Criminal Intent , Sex and the City and CSI: Miami , and plays a recurring role in Gossip Girl from 2007 to 2012 .
