Stephanie Sigman (born February 28, 1987 in Ciudad Obregón , Sonora , Mexico ) is a Mexican actress in film and television. She starred in several movies. She became internationally known for her role in the drama Miss Bala . In 2015 she got the role of Estrella in the movie James Bond 007: Specter .

life and career

Stephanie Sigman, born in the Mexican state of Sonora, began her modeling career at the age of 16. Two years later she attended the CEFAT drama school in Mexico City . She began her acting career in 2006 when she was in her early twenties with a small role in the short film Con lujo de detalle , directed by Héctor Falcón. Then she got appearances in television series such as Cambio de vida or Los Minondo . In 2013 and 2014 she played the part of Eva in 14 episodes of the American television series The Bridge - America . In 2015 she was also seen in 11 episodes of the drama series Narcos .

In 2010, Stephanie Sigman made her feature film debut as the leading actress in Pablo Aldretes western drama Río de oro opposite Gonzalo Lebrija. In 2011 she played the lead female role in Gerardo Naranjo's award-winning crime drama Miss Bala . A year later she was cast by the director Antonio Serrano for his period drama Morelos in the role of Francisca Ortiz. In 2013 she acted alongside fellow actors Aksel Hennie , Wes Bentley and Stephen Lang in the deep-sea thriller Pioneer by Erik Skjoldbjærg . In November 2015, she was seen in the cinema alongside Daniel Craig in the Bond film version James Bond 007: Specter . Since 2017 she has played as Captain Jessica Cortez in the TV series SWAT .
