The Bridge - America (Original title: The Bridge ) is an American crime series by Meredith Stiehm and Elwood Reid. It is based on the Danish - Swedish crime series Die Brücke - Transit in den Tod and places the plot on the border between the United States and Mexico . Diane Kruger and Demián Bichir can be seen in the leading roles . The first broadcast took place on July 10, 2013 on the cable channel FX , while the German-language broadcast began on July 18, 2013 on the pay TV channel FOX .

A body is found on the Bridge of the Americas on the Mexican-US border near El Paso (USA) and Ciudad Juárez (Mexico), which is divided exactly on the border line. It quickly turns out that there are two different women's corpses that were apparently merged into one on site. The American policewoman Sonya Cross and the Mexican policeman Marco Ruiz are investigating together. After solving this case towards the end of the first season, a subplot leads to the second season.

The broadcast of the series began on July 10, 2013 on the cable channel FX . The pilot episode was watched by just over three million viewers and achieved a target group rating of 0.9. On September 24, 2013, the series was extended by a second season with 13 episodes, the premiere of which took place on July 9, 2014.
In October 2014, FX stopped the series after two seasons due to poor ratings.
Germany
After Fox International Channels secured the worldwide rights to the broadcast in February 2013, the German-language branch announced that it would be broadcast shortly after the US world premiere. The German-language first broadcast of the first season finally began on July 18, 2013. The second season was broadcast from July 10, 2014.
