Erik Skjoldbjærg (born December 14, 1964 in Tromsø , Norway ) is a Norwegian film director and screenwriter.

life and work

Erik Skjoldbjærg graduated from the National Film and Television School in London in 1997 . Internationally known he is written and directed the film sleep of death (original title: Insomnia , with Stellan Skarsgård and Maria Mathiesen ) in 1997. The film was shown in the section "Semaine de la Critique" at the 50th International Film Festival of Cannes in same year. In 2002 Christopher Nolan made a US adaptation with Al Pacino and Robin Williams . Also internationally known is Prozac Nation - My Life with the Psychopill , which is based on the autobiography Damned Beautiful World by the music journalist Elizabeth Wurtzel . His oil rig diving drama, Pioneer , was featured in the Special Presentation Section at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival .
