content

In the Norwegian city of Tromsø, the Swedish and Norwegian police cooperate in the search for the killer of a 17-year-old girl. When the policeman Jonas Engström accidentally shoots a colleague in pursuit of the perpetrator, he tries to blame the murderer for this. Because of his guilt and the midnight sun , Engström can no longer sleep (hence the film title Insomnia).

criticism

“An intensely staged thriller facing the real fact of the high suicide rate in Norway, which is related to the extreme living conditions in the Arctic Circle. The film uses this skillfully for its grueling cat-and-mouse game. "
