Anna Maria Cecilia Bonnevie (born September 26, 1973 in Västerås , Sweden ) is a Norwegian- Swedish actress .

Life

Maria Bonnevie was born to the Norwegian actress Jannik Bonnevie and the Swedish actor Per Waldvik and grew up with her mother in Oslo . She completed her acting training at the Swedish National Academy of Mime and Acting in 1997 and made her debut at the Swedish National Theater in Stockholm in the same year .

Bonnevie had her first film roles in 1991 in Hrafn Gunnlaugsson's The White Viking and as a princess in the fairy tale film The Polar Bear King . In the following years she stood in front of the camera for Bille August in his film adaptation of Selma Lagerlöfs Jerusalem and starred in Erik Skjoldbjærg's highly acclaimed debut film Death Sleep . Directed by John McTiernan and bestselling author Michael Crichton , she was also seen in a 1999 Hollywood production in The 13th Warrior .

In 2002, Maria Bonnevie was one of those young European actors who were presented as shooting stars at the Berlin International Film Festival . Also in 2002, she won the title role of Ole Bornedal's film adaptation of Dina - My Story, based on a bestseller by Herbjørg Wassmo , alongside Gérard Depardieu . In the same year, Maria Bonnevie was awarded the Norwegian Amanda for her acting performance and was named Best Actress at the Montreal World Film Festival . In 2003 she was also nominated for Best Actress at the Danish Film Awards Bodil and Robert .

In Christoffer Boe's feature film debut Reconstruction , Maria Bonnevie starred in a double role in 2003, after working with the director in 2001 on his graduation film Anxiety . In 2007 she took on the female lead in Andrei Svyagintsev's drama The Exile and stood for the political thriller What Nobody Knows in Front of the Camera. In 2009 she was a member of the jury of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival .

Maria Bonnevie was in a relationship with the Swedish actor Mikael Persbrandt from 1998 to 2003, and the Norwegian journalist and television presenter Fredrik Skavlan has been her partner since 2006.
