Mikael Persbrandt (born September 25, 1963 in Jakobsberg ) is a Swedish actor .

He was best known in Germany for the portrayal of the police officer Gunvald Larsson , whom he embodied in the crime series Kommissar Beck - The New Cases up to the fifth episode of the fifth season. In Sweden he is also known as a stage actor in the Royal Dramatic Theater .

Life

Mikael Persbrandt's work at the theater began in the mid-1980s, and the first film offers began in 1990. Persbrandt left the Royal Dramatic Theater on October 13, 2007 due to difficulties in reconciling TV and film work with theater.

Mikael Persbrandt has been the official ambassador for UNICEF since November 2006 , having previously been involved in the organization. Persbrandt held this office until March 30, 2011. The reasons for the termination of the activity are stated differently: Persbrandt resigned from this office at his own request.

In Peter Jackson's film adaptation of the Tolkien novel The Hobbit , he took on the role of Beorn in 2013/2014 .

The German dubbing voice of Persbrandt comes from Philipp Moog .

Private life

From 1998 to 2003 he was in a relationship with the Swedish actress Maria Bonnevie . Persbrandt has been with the journalist Sanna Lundell, with whom he has three children, since 2005.

Litigation

In December 2005, Persbrandt told police that the Expressen newspaper had made false accusations of acute alcohol poisoning and reported that he had been admitted to a clinic in Uppsala . The information was inaccurate. Expressen apologized and admitted that her information was incorrect, but the apology was not accepted by Persbrandt. Otto Sjöberg , then editor-in-chief of the newspaper, was sentenced to pay SEK 75,000 (around € 7,300).

Persbrandt was arrested twice in 2011 for using cocaine and was fined. In April 2014 he was sentenced to five months' imprisonment for another cocaine offense, but this was reduced to 75 hours of social work on appeal.
