action

The Stockholm Commissioner Joona Linna is called to a gym in the evening. There the sports teacher, who was murdered by numerous knife wounds, lies on the floor. Joona makes her way to the dead man's family. Once there, he is faced with the next riddle, because mother and child were also brutally killed. The only survivor is young Josef. He is seriously injured and taken to hospital. Linna finds out that there is another family member. The sister hasn't lived with the family for a long time. The chance to get more information about the crime and its whereabouts, however, depends solely on Josef. Commissioner Joona gets Erik Maria Bark to help. He is a no longer a practicing doctor. Erik is supposed to question Josef under hypnosis . However, he does not learn much. The press, on the other hand, is successful when it gets wind of the doctor's meeting. That doesn't make life any easier for him, his wife Simone and his son. Because Erik's marriage has been in crisis for a long time. His wife hardly trusts him anymore. Erik himself struggles with sleeping problems and takes pills in the evening. The situation escalates when their son Benjamin is kidnapped one night. Erik and Simone are now trying to find a solution together and get closer to each other again. Commissioner Joona sees a connection between the murder and the kidnapping.

criticism

“Thriller overloaded with a multitude of topics, suffering from a lack of logic and an implausible ending. The drawing of Stockholm as a cold, forbidding and gloomy metropolis, which only seems to have brought about the crime, appears forced and unrealistic. "

"Lasse Hallström's" Der Hypnotiseur "is a masterfully staged, excellently cast, but ultimately too smooth thriller that does not stand out too far from the mediocre genre."

“Fans of Scandinavian crime novels will find competent supplies with good actors and a gloomy atmosphere at Der Hypnotiseur . The biggest problem is the lack of ingenuity with characters and plot as well as the disappointing resolution. "
