content

The film is set in 1928 in the fictional village of Bullerbü in Småland, Sweden . He describes the summer holidays of seven children who live outside the village in three neighboring farms. Britta and her sister Inga live on the north courtyard. Eight-year-old Lisa and her older brothers Lasse and Bosse live in the middle courtyard. Ole and his little sister Kerstin live on the Südhof. Lisa recounts the experiences between the last day of school and the end of the summer vacation. She tells of the common search for a water spirit and a treasure, the weeding on the parents' beet fields. After several visits to the shoemaker, Ole is allowed to keep his neglected dog. After the hay harvest, the three families celebrate midsummer together , the children are later allowed to spend the night in a field barn and at the end of the holidays they all celebrate the cancer festival .

criticism

According to Astrid Lindgren's famous children's book, the ideal village world of the 1920s is evoked in nostalgic, idyllic transfiguration. The film, which only reports on everyday events and almost completely dispenses with drama, requires children to be able to concentrate and dream. "

The German Film and Media Assessment FBW in Wiesbaden awarded the film the rating particularly valuable.
