content

A hungry fox named Mickel sneaks through the snow-covered forest at night looking for food. He meets two mice, but the attempt to catch them fails. A little later Mickel comes to a farm. Hungry, he looks through the window into the apartment where the Christmas dinner is served. But he doesn't get in. Then he sees that the chicken coop door is open. Just as he is about to catch a chicken, he is dragged out by Nisse (Norwegian-Danish) / Tomte (Swedish) , the farm's imp . Outside, Nisse explains to him that he is taking care of the chickens and that Mickel is not allowed to steal them. However, the Nisse also notices how hungry Mickel is. Shortly afterwards, a girl puts out a plate of food for the nit. He offers to share the food with the fox and to do this every winter night. Mickel accepts and eats his fill. When he passes the two mice on his way back into the forest, they are very scared. But Mickel gives them back a pine cone that has rolled away from them and smiles at the mice. Then he continues on his way.

Charisma

Reven og Nissen premiered on December 23, 2019 in Norway on NRK Super TV . A day later, the film was also shown in Sweden under the title Räven och Tomten on the SVT 1 TV channel . The film was shown there right before a Donald Duck Christmas special .

background

Reven og Nissen is based on the stories Tomte Tummetott and Tomte and the Fox by Astrid Lindgren . She wrote the story based on poems by Viktor Rydberg and Karl-Erik Forsslund . The CGI animations from the film are based on the illustrations by Eva Eriksson of the book Tomte and the Fox .

The film works almost without language, only the Nisse and the narrator speak a few sentences. Some of these are taken literally from Astrid Lindgren's books.

The animation company Qvisten Animation AS produced the film. Are Austnes and Yaprak Morali directed.

music

The title song for the film was composed by Joakim Berg , the singer of the Swedish rock band Kent . To do this, he processed the poem by Karl-Erik Forsslund , on which Astrid Lindgren's book is based, into a song. The title Räven Och Tomten is sung by Peter Jöback and Moonica Mac . It is produced by Peter Kvint . The background music was composed by the Norwegian jazz musician Gaute Storaas using the melody by Joakim Berg. The theme song was released as a single by Universal Music on December 24, 2019 . Tomte also whistles the Norwegian Christmas carol På låven sitter nissen when Mickel fetches a plate with food.
