It was also broadcast on television under the title Pippi Longstocking and the Pirates .

action

Tommy and Annika's parents go on vacation alone for the first time and instruct Pippi to take care of them during this time.

First of all, Tommy and Annika spend some nice vacation days with Pippi. They turn Pippi's bed into a playground and Pippi tries in vain to prove to them that you can walk on the water. The children's game is interrupted when Pippi finds a message in a bottle from her father Efraim Longstocking in the water. He writes that he is being held captive by pirates, but does not know where. The pirates want to force him to reveal the hiding place of his treasure to them. Pippi immediately sets out on a rescue operation in which Tommy and Annika also take part. First of all, the children look for some equipment in the attic of Villa Kunterbunt. Pippi shows Tommy and Annika a magical crystal ball that they got from a fortune teller in Acapulco . With her she wants to find out where her father is being held. After a few unsuccessful attempts, the crystal ball finally reveals the location - Taka-Tuka Island.

With the "Myskodil" invented by Pippi - a bed converted into a hot air balloon - the children float in the direction of Taka-Tuka. On the way, however, the Myskodile runs out of air and so they land on the top of a mountain and the balloon flies away without the bed. The children continue on foot and after a while they come to a junkyard, which turns out to be very convenient. Because the children can use a few boxes, a propeller and an old bicycle to build an airplane with a pedal drive with which they can fly further towards Taka Tuka Island and even cross the conflagration of an erupting volcano.

But even the pedal plane doesn't make the whole distance to Taka Tuka Island and so the children have to make an emergency landing on a lonely island in the South Sea, where they have to get stuck and protect themselves from wild animals. Fortunately, however, a pirate ship anchored off the island the next morning. The pirates , led by the one-eyed Oscar and his comrade Kalle, are also keen on Captain Longstocking's treasure and want to keep Pippi's father prisoner on the ship. The children succeed in outwitting the pirates and hijacking their ship. They are now stuck on the island while the children finally sail to Taka-Tuka Island.

Once there, Pippi takes on the fight with the pirates, who are under the command of Blood-Svente and Messer-Jocke. First they come to a pirate bar, where they rescue a boy named Marko, who is forced to work by the landlord there and abused by some drunken pirates. Eventually, blood-Svente and Messer-Jocke appear and Pippi, Tommy, Annika and Marko flee the pub together. Marko distracts the pirates who have started the chase and the children sometimes hide in a well and sometimes in cannons. Pippi has meanwhile found the tower dungeon where her father is trapped because his handkerchief is hanging out of the window there. At night she sneaks out of the fountain past the sleeping pirates and climbs up the wall of the tower. At first her father says he is dreaming because he has already seen the end of it and cannot believe that Pippi is sitting next to him. But he thinks about it and Pippi assures him that he will save him. While Blood-Svente and Messer-Jocke finally move their prisoner from the tower dungeon to the deepest cellar dungeon, they find his weakness with which they finally lead him to betray the hiding place of the treasure - Efraim Longstocking is extremely ticklish. Meanwhile, Pippi forges a plan to save her father. With several barrels of gunpowder she blows herself into the cellar dungeon and helps him to escape. The children and the captain rush to his ship, finally escape from the fortress and immediately sail to Treasure Island, knowing full well that the pirates will surely pursue them. With the lead, they hope to have enough time to recover the treasure. They also want to save the crew of the Hoppetosse , which was abandoned by the pirates on Treasure Island and was supposed to starve there.

On Treasure Island, Pippi, Tommy and Annika manage to get the two chests out of a cave. But on the beach, Tommy and Annika are overwhelmed by the pirates who have caught up with them in the meantime and have to give the treasure in exchange for the children. While the pirates are happy about their booty, they are surprised to see that the Hoppetosse crew has hijacked the pirates' ship and that they are now stuck on the island. Desperate, the pirates negotiate with Pippi and her father and finally swap the treasure chests for an ax and a book that contains instructions for building a raft.

The Hoppetosse finally sails back towards Villa Kunterbunt. Captain Longstocking thanks the children for saving him, gives Pippi one of the two chests and wants to hide the other again.

Reviews

"Children's classics."

“Although almost 40 years old, the adventures of Pippi Longstocking have not yet settled in dust: The fantastic experiences of the self-confident Pippi and her friends Annika and Tommi are child-friendly and tower above any" Power Ranger "or" Captain Future "that the private let their program run around. Tom and Annika, both always a bit too good, let the daring Pippi incite them to new outrages. Fortunately, it goes without a raised index finger and pedagogical instructions. "

“Pippi in Taka-Tuka-Land is the third big film adventure of the freckled Pippi. Unlike the first two film adaptations, director Olle Hellbom only tells a single story. And this is so imaginatively and excitingly staged that it can definitely keep up with Astrid Lindgren's book. A wonderful adventure fun that makes you want the deep blue sea. "

"Cheerful and adventurous children's film with a supporting role for Thor Heyerdahl as a pirate."

"Cheerful and adventurous children's entertainment."

“The third part of the successful series is richer in exoticism and actions than the previous ones, but otherwise does not differ from them in any other way. Apart from creative and dramaturgical deficiencies, the film adaptation does not stand up to the comparison with the literary original. "
