Olle Nordemar
Olof Harry "Olle" Nordemar (born July 25, 1914 in Stockholm ; † February 18, 1999 there ) was a Swedish film director , film editor , film producer , cameraman and screenwriter . Nordemar is known as a producer of films based on Astrid Lindgren's novels . Nordemar edited and produced the Norwegian-Swedish documentary Kon-Tiki (1950), which won an Oscar for best documentary in 1951 .
Career
Nordemar was born in Stockholm and was the brother of the film editor and director Eric Nordemar . In 1932 he began working in the film industry. First, he trained as a film editor and photographer. From 1935 to 1940 he worked as a photographer and editor at Armé-, Marinoch Flygfilm . From 1940 to 1945 Nordemar worked as chief photographer at the Sandrew company . He then worked as a chief photographer at the Swedish film company AB Europa Film .
From 1945 to 1946 he worked as a cameraman, director and producer in Hollywood. A year later, Nordemar and Lennart Bernadotte founded the film production companies Artfilm AB and Artfoto AB , of which Nordemar became the managing director. In the early 1950s, Bernadotte sold his shares in the company to Nordemar, making him the sole owner. In 1966 AB Svensk Filmindustri (SF) acquired all shares in Nordemars Artfilm AB .
Nordemar has produced almost 40 films and television series over the course of his career, and directed and edited numerous others. In 1951 his film Kon-Tiki received the Oscar for best documentary film.
Nordemar was a board member of the Association of Swedish Film Producers (Föreningen svenska filmproducenter).
Private life
In 1940 he married Carmen Orrequia, the curator of the Nordic Museum . He was the father of two sons born in 1943 and 1945. In 1999 Nordemar died in Stockholm and was buried in Galärvarvskyrkogården .
