Beppe Wolgers , actually John Bertil Wolgers , (born November 10, 1928 in Stockholm , † August 6, 1986 in Östersund , Jämtland ) was a Swedish actor , author , composer and director .
Life
Wolgers was the son of forester John Wolgers and Gerda Wolgers, nee Korsgren. From 1947 to 1948 he attended the Germantown Friends School in Philadelphia, USA, and from 1946 to 1947 the Poppius journalistskola and Otte Skölds målarskola. Wolgers was a journalist at Stockholms-Tidningen from 1960 to 1961.
Beppe Wolgers became known as an author of children's books and worked as a copywriter and influential composer for television and theater. He convinced Zarah Leander to participate in Stephen Sondheim's musical The Smile of a Summer Night from 1966 and wrote the pieces I Remember , Liaisons and The Glamorous Life for it .
A star in Sweden for a long time, Wolgers finally achieved international through his appearances as the bearded, cozy father Ephraim Longstocking in the popular Pippi Longstocking films based on Astrid Lindgren and as the father in Dunderklumpen by Per Åhlin , for which he also wrote the screenplay Notoriety.
