action

There is a fly problem on Lönneberga. Michel's mother really wants to buy flycatchers. Michel's father then says that they all have to beg when Michel's mother spends the money on such useless things. Ida is afraid of becoming poor. Michel tries to help. He decides to beg the money for the flycatcher. He carves a begging stick and disguises himself as a beggar child. Then he goes to the pastor's wife and sings for her. The pastor's wife takes pity on the boy and gives him money. Michel buys 20 flycatchers for this. He hangs these up on a thread at night. When Michel's parents go into the kitchen, they get caught in the flycatchers.

The next morning, Michel should go to the pastor's wife and apologize to her for lying to her. This is not angry with Michel.

Ida would also like to sit in the joiner's shed, just like Michel, when he does something. So she goes around and asks maid Lina and servant Alfred what evil they can do to get there. But nobody can help her.

Meanwhile, Michel unintentionally hatches further pranks. So the gate to the gate of the evil ram leaves open when Krösa-Maja comes to Lönneberga. This attacks Krösa-Maja. Michel hears their calls for help and distracts the ram. This pursues Michel and falls into a pond and must have got Alfred out by Michel's father and servant. When Michel's father finds out who left the gate open, Michel is locked up in the shed again.

There is a chicken on Lönneberga that lays a particularly large number of eggs, but it now hides the eggs elsewhere. Michel's mother tells Ida and Michel to look for the eggs. You can find the hiding place quickly with 19 eggs. While Michel shows the hen where to lay eggs, Ida looks at the eggs. She wants to try out which eggs are bad and which are still good. In doing so, she breaks all the eggs. Ida tells Michel that she thinks she has finally done something. She didn't know before, only when she had already done it. Michel's father comes, sees the eggs and yells at Michel. Michel runs away into the shed. Ida cries because she thinks she will never come to the joiner's shed. When Ida talks about her mishap with the eggs that evening, Michel's father laughs and apologizes to Michel.

When a rat makes Lönneberga unsafe, Michel sets up a rat trap. Instead of the rat, Michel's father falls into the rat trap. Michel spends the afternoon in the shed. Whenever he comes out, something new happens and Michel has to go back to the shed. Michel thinks this is unjust and never wants to leave the shed again. His parents and Alfred cannot convince Michel to come out for the time being. To be absolutely sure that Michel stays in the shed, maid Lina locks the shed from the outside. She would like to spend the evening undisturbed with Alfred. After all, Michel wants to go out, climbs out through the chimney and goes swimming in the lake with Alfred.

reception

The Berliner Morgenpost describes the film as funny and colorful.

The children's film blog thinks that Michel & Ida from Lönneberga do not overwhelm a very young audience. However, the film doesn't ask at all. Conflicts are "limited to quite harmless skirmishes", there are "no rough edges". Everything is "nice, cheerful and a little irrelevant", the film owes the most beautiful parts solely to "the quality of the original."
