Good night, Herr Landstreicher (Original title: Go'natt Herr Luffare ) is a children's film by Daniel Bergman based on the novel of the same name by Astrid Lindgren .
action
Sven, Anna and Stina are supposed to stay home alone one evening because their parents are going to a funeral. Even before the parents leave, they warn their children not to open the door to anyone, and certainly not to a tramp. The children promise. When Sven goes outside to check on the cat, he forgets to lock the front door when entering. When there is a knock at the door, Sven automatically says "Come in". A few seconds later he regrets it because he remembers the promise he made to his parents. But then it is already too late and a tramp enters the house. Stina starts to cry because she is afraid of the man. But Stina manages to calm him down. He tries to entertain the children, sings, plays theater, etc. The children are enthusiastic and laugh at the show the tramp is putting on them. So the tramp manages to convince the children to give him something to eat. The children can't get enough of him. But when he has had enough to eat and drink, the tramp decides to leave. He goes outside in the cold and the snow. The children hope that he will come back soon. But the tramp knows very well that he will never do this.
