Steve Dobrogosz

Steve Dobrogosz (born January 26, 1956 in Bellefonte , Pennsylvania ) is an American composer and jazz pianist .

Life

Steve Dobrogosz is the first of four children of Polish-born microbiologists Jerome Dobrogosz and Donna Bartones. He grew up in Raleigh ( North Carolina ) and attended the Berklee College of Music . From 1978 he studied classical music at the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm, Sweden . He became part of the Swedish jazz scene as a pianist and released several albums with European record labels. He worked with, among others, Arild Andersen , Paul Motian , Kenny Wheeler , Thad Jones , Jon Christensen , Palle Danielsson , Alex Riel and Bill Frisell .

In 1982 the Odin label released the album Fairy Tales with the Norwegian singer Radka Toneff . He recorded four albums with the Swedish singer Berit Andersson , of which The Final Touch was listed in the top ten of 1991 by the Jazz Times .

Dobrogosz created over four hundred works, including jazz compositions, a mass for choir, strings and piano (1992), a Requiem , a Te Deum , a Magnificat , a Christmas cantata , a symphony , other orchestral and chamber music works, piano, Organ and other solo compositions.
