Maria Persson

Maria Ann-Christin Persson (born June 9, 1959 in Stockholm , Sweden ) is a former Swedish child actress . She was best known for her role as Annika Settergren in the Pippi Longstocking films and the television series of the same name.

Life

Persson applied for the role of Pippi Longstocking, in the end she was taken for the role of the quiet and shy "Annika Settergren". Inez Günther dubbed it for the German version .

After the Pippi Longstocking films, Maria Persson attended the Calle Flygares teaterskola , an acting school. But she ended her acting career early.

Persson was now training to be a nurse. In 1980 she met a Spaniard and together they moved to Mallorca . After separating from her significant other, Persson met someone else, with whom she had a son and ran a bar in Palma . After separating from him, Persson had to sell the bar. Most recently she worked as a geriatric nurse. Maria Persson has been unable to work due to osteoarthritis of the knee since 2012 and has to live on sick pay. She shares a two-room apartment with her son and his girlfriend. For the successful Pippi Longstocking films, the child actors only received a fee of around 2000 euros. The fans Marjan Tulp and Heleen Bosma from the Netherlands started a crowdfunding in February 2019 to collect donations. As a result, the three main actors Persson, Nilsson and Sundberg received 10,000 euros each. Persson wants to have an operation on his knee with the money. Before that, she would have to reduce her weight through gastric bypass surgery . Nilsson and Sundberg want to donate some of the money to charities for children.
