Earl Belmore
Earl Belmore is a hereditary British title in the Peerage of Ireland .
Former family seat was Castle Coole near Enniskillen in County Fermanagh .
Award
The title was created on November 20, 1797 for Armar Lowry-Corry , a former member of the Irish House of Commons .
Subordinate title
Lowry-Corry had already been raised to Baron Belmore , of Castle Coole in the County of Fermanagh on January 6, 1781 , and Viscount Belmore on December 6, 1789 . Both sub-titles are also part of the Peerage of Ireland.
Since Earl Belmore has no distinguishable subordinate titles, the fictional title Viscount Corry is used by the earl's eldest son as a courtesy title . With the existing Viscount dignity there would be a risk of confusion with the actual title.
