Jakobsberg is the capital of the Swedish municipality of Järfälla in the province of Stockholm County . Jakobsberg has grown together with Stockholm and is therefore part of the Stockholm crime scene . The place has its origin in the medieval village of Vibbla , which was first mentioned in 1347. Jakobsberg was named after Jakob Lilliehöök, a baron and major who owned an estate in the municipality.
Jakobsberg was a separate crime scene until 1970. The town experienced the greatest increase in population between 1960 and 1965. The number of inhabitants rose from 8,479 to 19,120 during this period.
Jakobsberg is connected to Stockholm city center via the SL Pendeltåg suburban train .
The windmill on the Kvarnbacken hill, which burned down in July 2005, has long been a prominent landmark. The first previous construction of this mill was from the 18th century. The town's annual Walpurgis Night and Midsummer festivals also take place on the hill .
