The Dolmen de la Pierre Plate (also Allée couverte de la Pierre Plate ) is a megalithic complex in Presles in the north of the Val-d'Oise department in France . It is located in the forest of L'Isle-Adam , two kilometers southwest of the city of Presles, not far from the A15 autoroute . In France, dolmen is the generic term for megalithic structures of all kinds (see: French nomenclature ).

Antechamber

La Pierre Plate is a sunken gallery grave whose capstone tops originally ended flush with the surrounding ground level. There are still three ceiling tiles. Access to the antechamber was through a coaxial, meanwhile severely damaged soul hole .

When the Neolithic complex was excavated in 1926, the remains of over 100 people were found - skulls and long bones separated. The trepanations in the skulls had healed in some cases.

The gallery tomb was classified as a Monument historique in 1932 and restored in 1974.

Nearby are the gallery grave Allée couverte Le Blanc Val, southwest of the village of La Croix; the Coffre de Bellevue is northeast and La Pierre Turquaise is about 4.0 km to the east.
