Alex Kalymnios is a British film and television director .

life and career

Kalymnios wanted to become an actress while she was still at school . However, when she directed her first school play she thought she would enjoy working behind the scenes more and decided to become a director. In 2002 Kalymnios graduated from Bournemouth University with a degree in television and video production . Shortly thereafter, she got a place at the BBC Director's Academy. She later described this as a great experience.

With her first short film, More Than a Job's Worth , Kalymnios was named Best New Director at the Greenwich International Film Festival . She also received a nomination for best short film at the Raindance East Festival . A little later, Kalymnios took part in the Talent Campus of the Berlin International Film Festival . In 2007, Kalymnios began directing episodes of the British television series Hollyoaks . Until 2009 she directed 13 episodes. From 2008 to 2012 she worked as a director for seven episodes of Hollyoaks - offshoot Hollyoaks Later operates.

In 2011, Kalymnios directed all episodes of Becoming Human , an offshoot of the British series Being Human . This series earned her a nomination for the Welsh BAFTA Cymru Awards in the Digital Creativity and Games category, and a Banff Rockie Award nomination for Best Web Series - Fiction. In 2015 she worked as a director on the television film Cleveland Abduction . The film is based on Michelle Knights biography Finding Me: A Decade of Darkness, a Life Reclaimed: A Memoir of the Cleveland kidnappings , by the kidnapping of Cleveland is. The film was shot in a very small house in Cleveland within 18 days.

Kalymnios has been directing the television series The White Princess since 2017 . Other series directed by Kalymnios include Seacht , The Cut , EastEnders and Waterloo Road .

Kalymnios is married and has one daughter.
