Luke Evans
Luke George Evans (born April 15, 1979 in Pontypool , Wales ) is a British actor and singer .

Born in Pontypool, Evans grew up in Aberbargoed as the only son of his parents. In his youth he was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses , but he resigned from the religious community at the age of 16 and also left school that same year. At the age of 17 he moved to Cardiff , where he took singing lessons. In 1997 he won a scholarship at The London Studio Center in Kings Cross, London , where he graduated in 2000.
After that, he worked in London's West End in various theater productions, including La Cava , Taboo , Rent , Miss Saigon and Avenue Q with. In 2009, at the age of 30, he received his first film role in Clash of the Titans , in which he appeared in a supporting role as the Greek god Apollo . In 2010 he had another supporting role as the sheriff's henchman in Ridley Scott's Robin Hood at the side of Matthew Macfadyen . Again at Macfadyen's side, Evans appeared a year later in The Three Musketeers in one of the leading roles as the musketeer Aramis .
In 2012 he took on the role of Baltimore Detective in The Raven , the title of which is borrowed from the Edgar Allan Poe poem The Raven . Since early August 2012, he also took on the role of a villain in the sequel to The Fast and the Furious , after it was rejected by Jason Statham . In Peter Jackson's film adaptation of the Tolkien novel The Hobbit , he took on the role of Bard the archer . In 2014 he was seen as Dracula in the movie Dracula Untold . In 2018 he played the role of the cartoonist John Moore in ten episodes of the television series The Alienist - Die Einkreisung alongside Daniel Brühl and Dakota Fanning . In 2019 he played one of the leading roles in Roland Emmerich's war drama Midway - For Freedom, alongside Woody Harrelson and Dennis Quaid .
In 2017 he was accepted into the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences , which awards the Oscars every year.
On November 22, 2019, his debut album At Last was released on BMG Records . On the album comprising 12 pieces, Evans reinterprets mostly pop songs from the '80s and' 90s acoustically.
In March 2020 he was on the cover of the German edition of GQ - Gentlemen's Quarterly , photographed by Marcus Ohlsson.
