NYPD officer Nick Spitz, still a simple patrol officer after several years of service, is finally going on the long-promised European vacation with his wife Audrey, a hairdresser who reads crime stories. After a chance meeting with a mysterious man on the plane, he invites them to a family reunion on his uncle's, an elderly billionaire's superyacht. When he is murdered, they are quickly the main suspects. On the run from the police, they try to prove their innocence by looking for the killer. But one after the other, each of the suspects dies a violent death ...

In June 2012 it was reported that Charlize Theron had signed a contract for a mystery comedy called Murder Mystery , which would be directed by John Madden and written by James Vanderbilt . The film had previously been planned by Walt Disney Studios with Kevin Macdonald as a director. In April 2013, Colin Firth , Adam Sandler and Emily Blunt were announced as the first crew members. Later, however, both Blunts and Firth's management denied that they were included in the project. A few months later, in September 2013, it was reported that both Madden and Charlize Theron were leaving the project. Anne Fletcher was planned as the new director .
In March 2018 it was published that in addition to Sandler, the second leading role would be played by Jennifer Aniston . The two had previously stood together in front of the camera in 2011 in My Invented Woman . Directed by Kyle Newacheck and the film will initially only be released on the Netflix streaming platform . In June 2018 Luke Evans , Gemma Arterton , David Walliams , Erik Griffin, John Kani , Shioli Kutsuna, Luis Gerardo Mendez, Adeel Akhtar , Ólafur Darri Ólafsson , Dany Boon and Terence Stamp were announced as additional cast members.
The shooting of the film started on June 14, 2018 Montréal . Filming continued in Italy at the end of July 2018, including in Santa Margherita Ligure , Lake Como and Milan .
Release
The first trailer for the film was released on April 26, 2019, with the song Look What You Made Me Do by Taylor Swift as the soundtrack. The film was released on June 14, 2019.
