NGC 2082 is a bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBb in the constellation Swordfish in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 44 million light years from the Milky Way and about 20,000 light years in diameter.
The object was discovered by John Herschel on November 30, 1834 and included in the New General Catalog .
