NGC 2087 is a bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBa in the constellation Pictor in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 191 million light years from the Milky Way and about 45,000 light years in diameter.
The object was discovered by John Herschel on December 6, 1834 .
