NGC 2101 is an irregular galaxy of the Hubble type IBm / P in the constellation Pictor in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 45 million light-years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 25,000 ly.
In the same area of ​​the sky is the galaxy NGC 2104 .

The object was discovered by John Herschel on January 9, 1837 .
