Music charts in Belgium

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Music charts in Belgium are currently divided into sections by region or language, between Dutch- speaking Flanders and French-speaking Wallonia .

As an organization, Ultratop is the publisher of the charts, the names of which often have this suffix. Founded as a non-profit organization by the Belgian Entertainment Association (BEA), Ultratop is a Belgian representative and a member of the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI).

Ultratop charts

Because of the linguistic and cultural diversity in Belgium, several charts are collected that are broadcast by radio stations and TV programs by TMF in the Flemish region and Plug RTL in the Walloon region . The publications reach a total of two million listeners or viewers. In 2005, on the occasion of its 10th anniversary, an anniversary work was created with 15,282 singles from 5882 performers.

Empiricism

Up until 2015, the ranking of the Ultratop charts was based purely on the sales figures of 500 points of sale and legal downloads in Belgium. With the first edition of the charts in 2016, both airplay and music streaming were taken into account when determining the rankings, in addition to sales .
