Selah Sue
Selah Sue (born May 3, 1989 in Leuven , Flanders ; actually Sanne Greet A. Putseys ) is a Belgian singer-songwriter . Her music belongs to the soul genre with influences from reggae , funk and hip-hop .
Life
Selah Sue took dance lessons in her childhood, but at the age of 15 she became interested in playing guitar and writing songs. Only two years later she was discovered by co-organizer Milow at a contest and invited to play with him in the opening act of his concerts. Radio appearances in Brussels made them more popular. This was followed by appearances as support for Jamie Lidell , James Morrison and others as well as concerts at well-known festivals in Belgium and the Netherlands.
At the age of 20 she had her first record deal and made recordings, including a duet with Cee-Lo Green entitled Please , which was released on his album The Lady Killer and later on his own debut album. At a Prince concert in Antwerp, she appeared in the opening act.
With the songs Raggamuffin and Crazy Vibes she had her first successes from 2010 in both the Dutch and French-speaking countries beyond the borders of Belgium. Her self-named debut album was released in March 2011 and reached number 1 in the charts in her Flemish homeland . It was produced by DJ Farhot and reggae musician Patrice , whom she accompanied on his tour in autumn 2010 in German-speaking countries.
She was named best solo artist at the Belgian Music Industry Awards in early 2011.
