Tom Johannes Barman (born January 1, 1972 in Antwerp ) is a Flemish musician and film director .

Life

Tom Barman studied at the Sint Lukas Film School in Brussels , dropped out and instead opted for a career as a musician with his band dEUS , which he founded in 1989. In 1992 he made it to the final of the Humo Rock Rally with dEUS .

He was also the director of all dEUS video clips and the clips for the singers Arno and Axelle Red , and his short film Turnpike was released in 1996 . After the The Ideal Crash tour, Barman found time to realize an old dream and produced a feature film. In the summer of 2002 he began recording Any Way The Wind Blows in Antwerp , which was released in 2003.

In addition to dEUS, Barman is working on a series of acoustic concerts with pianist Guy Van Nueten and on Magnus , a dance project with CJ Bolland .

Magnus released his debut album The Body Gave You Everything in 2004 , some of which Barman used for Any Way The Wind Blows . Among others, Mauro Pawlowski (dEUS), Tim Vanhamel ( Millionaire ) and Peter Vermeersch worked on this album . A live album from the concert series with Van Nueten was released in 2003, consisting of a CD with ten tracks and a SADC with six other tracks. The album includes both dEUS songs and cover songs by musicians such as Nick Drake and David Bowie , played by Tom Barman on guitar and as singer, and Guy Van Nueten on piano.

In September 2005 another dEUS album was released under the title Pocket Revolution . Shortly afterwards, Barman toured Europe and America with dEUS. In the same year he was a guest on the Dutch TV show Zomergasten . On October 1, 2006, together with Arno and Sioen , he organized the 0110 festival for tolerance and against extremism and senseless violence. The dEUS album Vantage Point was released on April 18, 2008 . Barman toured Europe with dEUS in 2008.

On July 21, 2007, Barman received the Prize of Democracy for the 0110 festival he initiated. In mid-November of the same year, Barman received the Erepenning (German: Merit Medal) from the Flemish Parliament , an honor given twice a year to Belgian citizens for special achievements.
