Axelle Red

Axelle Red (* 15. February 1968 in Hasselt as Fabienne Demal ) is a Belgian composer , author , interpreter of songs and actress . Although Axelle Red's mother tongue is Dutch , she sings mainly in French , but still has her greatest successes in the Dutch part of Belgium. Axelle Red's music varies from jazz to piano ballads.

Life

Axelle Red is the daughter of the lawyer Roland Demal, a councilor in the city of Hasselt, a member of the Flemish Liberal Party . She successfully completed her law degree at the Free University of Brussels . Still, she had a fondness for music, her mother's passion. Axelle Red grew up with the music of ABBA and the greats of soul (such as Aretha Franklin , Otis Redding , Sam & Dave or Percy Sledge ), who had a major influence on her music.

Axelle Red achieved her international breakthrough in 1993 with the song Sensualité . Her first album, Sans plus attendre, sold more than 500,000 copies. Other successful chansons are Manhattan-Kaboul ( duet with Renaud ), Elle danse seule , Je t'attends or Parce que c'est toi . With Youssou N'Dour she sang the official anthem of the 1998 Football World Cup during the opening ceremony in Paris.

In 2006, Axelle Red received the " Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres " from the French Ministry of Culture .

• Axelle Red starred in the 2004 German-Belgian-Dutch thriller Ellen Calling (original title Ellektra , directed by Rudolf Mestdagh ). For this she received the B-Movie Award for best supporting actress.
