Arno (born May 21, 1949 in Ostend ; actually Arno Hintjens ) is a Belgian singer and musician.

Life

Arno began his musical career in Ostend (Belgium) in the early 1970s . He was successively a member of the formations Freckle Face , Tjens Couter and TC Matic . He has been active as a solo artist since 1986. In addition to his own compositions, mainly in French and English, and partly in Flemish , he also recorded numerous French chansons . He also composed the music for numerous films. Because of his rough voice and musical relationship, he was also known as the "Belgian Tom Waits".

Arno Hintjens by the Belgian painter Willy Bosschem

In 2007, Arno and Alain Bashung played in the film J'ai toujours rêvé d'être un gangster by Samuel Benchetrit in the 3rd story, once successful singers who wander through the province and meet by chance. Over coffee they talk about the world and their life and try to hide their loss of meaning from each other.
