John Ortiz (2019)

John Ortiz (born May 23, 1968 in Brooklyn , New York City ) is an American actor .

Life

In the 1990s, he played rather minor supporting roles in well-known Hollywood films such as Bounty - One Will Pay (with Mel Gibson and Gary Sinise ), Amistad or Carlito's Way (with Al Pacino ) and roles in less well-known films and TV series. The first major role was in 2006 the character of the drug lord in the remake of the cult series Miami Vice by Michael Mann . His work includes more than 50 film and television productions.

In 2018 he was appointed to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences , which awards the Oscars every year.
