Luck is an American television series set in the world of equestrian sports and gambling. The leading actor and producer is Dustin Hoffman . The US premiere was on December 11, 2011 on HBO . The German premiere took place on October 9, 2012 on TNT Serie . After three horses died, the series was discontinued after nine episodes, although it had previously been extended for a second season. The reason given for the cancellation was that accidents could not be completely ruled out in spite of the “highest safety standards”.

The main character is Chester Bernstein. At the beginning of the season, Chester is released from jail after being involved in several illegal businesses, from fraud at casinos to money laundering . Released from prison, Chester makes every effort to regain wealth with his partner Gus Demitriou and the horse trainer Turo Escalante, in return they buy a promising racehorse and plan to bring a horse racing track under their influence.
A secondary strand of the plot is the planning of Ace's revenge on Mike Smythe, which is why Ace spent three years in prison.
