Ian Hart (born October 8, 1964 in Liverpool , Merseyside , England ; actually Ian Davies ) is a British actor .

Life

Hart, grandson of Irish emigrants, was born in Liverpool as one of three children and grew up in a Catholic family. He attended high school in Liverpool and was part of a theater company as a teenager. He later studied drama at Liverpool College.

He first appeared as an actor in the 1990s, playing the role of John Lennon in the film Backbeat , which describes the early days of the Beatles . In 1995 he also starred in the film Land and Freedom . He was finally known for his role as the obsessive Professor Quirrell in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone .

As a television actor, he embodied one of the leading roles in the series Dirt . He also played the role of Dr. in two Sherlock Holmes television films. Watson . At BBC Radio 4 , he took on the speaking role of the title character in 2009 in a five-part series based on the Tom Ripley novels by Patricia Highsmith . In 2011 he played the role of Adolf Hitler in the BBC production The Man Who Put Hitler In The Dock .

Personal

Hart is married to a teacher with whom he has a daughter (* 2001). Another daughter (* 1996) comes from an earlier relationship.

In 1995, Hart received the Coppa Volpi for Best Supporting Actor in Unlimited Hate (Nothing Personal) at the Venice International Film Festival .
