Klondike is a US historical mini-series developed in-house by Discovery Channel and based on real life. It was broadcast in the US from January 20-22, 2014. The German version was shown for the first time from November 12 to 17, 2014 on the pay TV channel TNT Serie . The series ran on free TV in two parts of three episodes each on January 8th and 9th, 2015 on VOX . The series is based on the book Gold Diggers: Striking it Rich in the Klondike by the Canadian Charlotte Gray.

The two main characters Bill Haskell and Byron Epstein, friends since childhood, fell victim to the gold rush at the end of the 19th century and moved to Dawson City in the Yukon Territory . The first problems and adventures are not long in coming; the two have to contend with the harsh environmental conditions, the natives and unscrupulous city dwellers. It becomes dramatic for Bill when Byron is shot by an unknown person and he has to share his claim with the beautiful businesswoman Belinda Mulrooney.
Belinda Mulrooney , Superintendent Sam Steele, Soapy Smith, Father William Judge, Joe Meeker and Jack London are historical figures.
