action

The mechanic Victor Kelly, who used to work as a burglar, runs a car repair shop. He is heavily in debt. His girlfriend Sally Mahon offers him financial support, but Kelly refuses the offer.

Michael Lawler, who is related to Kelly, comes to visit from Ireland and persuades Kelly to have another break-in. The men have two other accomplices, Pat Duffy and Jesus Del Toro.

After an intensive period of practice, Kelly can actually open the vault of a security company. However, Lawler accidentally locks him in the vault and arrests him.

Lawler escapes with the money, but returns due to remorse and hands the loot over to Kelly. He can pay off his debts and restore his relationship with Sally.

Since the money stolen from the security company was black money, no complaint was made and Kelly remained a free man.

Reviews

Roger Ebert wrote in the Chicago Sun-Times on August 11, 2000 that Christopher Walken was one of his best portrayals in the film. He doesn't play a colorful character, but a working person who keeps repeating the same mistakes. The film structure is a " cheap version " of the usual heist movie .

The lexicon of international films wrote that the film was a “ demanding, promising debut film in the form of an independent thriller ” and a “ big city crime in noir tones, which is less about superficial action than about the development of comprehensible characters ”. He lives " from the acting potential of his star Christopher Walken ".
