Donal Francis Logue (born February 27, 1966 in Ottawa , Ontario ) is a Canadian actor .

Life

Logue's father was a Catholic priest , but he gave up his profession, married and had four children. Donal Logue grew up in El Centro , California , where he was a student representative at his high school . He later studied history at Harvard University and acting at the British-American Drama Academy in London .

Logue appeared in a number of plays and, since 1990, in television films. His first movie was Sneakers - Die Lautlosen from 1992. In the thriller Bad Guys , he played one of the leading roles alongside Molly Ringwald and appeared in Blade alongside Wesley Snipes . In the comedy The Bride Who Doesn't Dare , he played the role of Brian , who was abandoned by his fiancée Maggie Carpenter ( Julia Roberts ) shortly before the wedding and later became a Catholic priest.

He won a special jury award at the Sundance Film Festival for his leading role in the comedy Dex, The Womanizer . In the fantasy comedy As long as you are there he starred alongside Reese Witherspoon and Mark Ruffalo .

Logue played a leading role in the television series No Mercy for Dad from 2001 to 2005 . Between 2003 and 2005 he appeared in several episodes of the television series Emergency Room . In 2008 and 2009 he played the role of Police Captain Tidwell in the second season of the American television series Life . From 2014 to 2019 he played the lead role of Harvey Bullock in the series Gotham .
