Your Ex - My Nightmare is a comedy film directed by Jesse Peretz starring Zach Braff , Amanda Peet and Jason Bateman . The release of the film was postponed several times until it was released in US cinemas on May 11, 2007 . Co-stars are Charles Grodin and Donal Logue .

The newly wed Tom Reilly is a slacker. While he works from time to time, his wife Sofia makes sure that the money comes home and the household runs. When Sofia becomes pregnant one day and now wants to concentrate on her role as a mother, Tom is forced to cooperate. He finds a job in his father-in-law's agency. There he meets his wife's wheelchair user and ex-boyfriend, Chip Sanders. Chip sees the opportunity and tries by all means to win Sofia back and obtain Tom's release.

Tom finds out that Chip has only been faking his paraplegia for 15 years. In order to expose Chip, Tom one day pushes him down the stairs in front of Sofia and her family, but this only leads to Sofia leaving him.

Through a work colleague, Tom fakes a job offer in Barcelona for his opponent. Believing that he will soon be in his dream job, Chip tells Sofia the truth, gets up and a little later is run over by a bus and breaks both legs, which means that he is really dependent on a wheelchair.

Sofia returns to Tom; the two move to New York, where Tom opens an advertising agency.

Popular character Zach Braff manages to make this film worth watching for genre lovers, despite the thin story and otherwise rather average actors, just through his presence. But the film's content and gags are likely to be forgotten sooner than its 88 minutes of play are up. "
