Overall conference
In Berlin , Bremen , Hesse , Lower Saxony , Rhineland-Palatinate , Saarland , Saxony-Anhalt , the general conference (GK) is the name for an institution that in other federal states has the general teachers ' conference ( Baden-Württemberg , Saxony ), teachers' conference ( Bavaria , Hamburg , Mecklenburg- Western Pomerania , North Rhine-Westphalia , Schleswig-Holstein , Thuringia ) or Conference of Teachers ( Brandenburg ). In addition to the school conference, it is an important body in the organizational, educational and, in some cases, technical design of the individual school by its members.
composition
The general conference includes all teachers teaching at a school. Teachers who teach full-time at a school are obliged to participate in general conferences. Other status groups (schoolchildren, parents) voluntarily send elected representatives depending on the federal state and type of school, some of whom have voting rights. The teachers form a clear absolute majority in the conference.
In Saxony-Anhalt, the number of student representatives and parents' representatives in general conferences according to § 5 of the Conference Ordinance of August 2, 2005 has increased so much that the teachers make up only half of the participants in the overall conference. As a result, the overall conference has a characteristic that makes it comparable to (much smaller) school conferences in other countries of the Federal Republic of Germany .
In schools whose student clientele consists predominantly or exclusively of adult students (e.g. vocational schools or colleges ), the places actually intended for parents in the overall conference are also taken by students; at elementary schools , instead of pupils, the proportion of parents increases accordingly.

tasks
The overall conference of a school has different tasks depending on the federal state. These may include, among others:
- Body to inform the teaching staff about essential school matters
- Determination of principles for pedagogical and technical educational work (e.g. school program , school regulations )
- Establishment of principles for performance evaluation and assessment as well as for classwork and homework as well as their coordination
- Basic planning, coordination and definition of school events (e.g. class trips , project weeks )
- Decision on teaching cooperation and integration projects
- Advice and decision on regulatory measures
- Election of the members of the teaching staff to be sent to the school board / school conference
The overall conference can delegate selected tasks and decision-making powers to sub-conferences ; It can also delegate the development of individual topics to committees and present work results to itself at a later date and receive advice from them.
