The Alfa Romeo Brera is a shooting brake - sports coupe of the Italian car manufacturer Alfa Romeo . Brera is the name of a district in Milan that is home to the Pinacoteca di Brera art museum . The Brera was presented in Germany for the first time at the 15th Auto Mobil International in Leipzig (April 2 to 10, 2005). Around three years earlier, Alfa Romeo had presented the coupé drawn by Italdesign Giugiaro as a study at the Geneva Motor Show .

The coupé shares the basic technical concept in important areas with the Alfa Romeo 159, which appeared in summer 2005 . The vehicle was delivered to customers from the end of 2005.

The convertible version of the Alfa Romeo Spider appeared in spring 2006.

Facelift

At the beginning of 2008 the Alfa Romeo Brera was revised with regard to some details. The excessive weight criticized by the press was reduced by 25 kilograms, mainly through modifications to the chassis. New integral sports seats with improved lateral support were also used. With the discontinuation of the Sky View equipment line , whose panoramic glass roof became part of the new Edizione package, Alfa Romeo upgraded the basic version with Brembo brakes and the Q2 electronic limited-slip differential on the front-wheel drive models. The 3.2-liter V6 petrol engine was now also available with front-wheel drive , the six-speed automatic transmission Q-Tronic for the diesel engine.

Furthermore, the trunk of the revised Brera could now be opened by pressing the brand logo on the rear, which was previously only possible from the interior.

End of production

In July 2010, the production of the Brera and the open offshoot Spider of the type 939 were stopped. A successor model was not planned.
