The Alfa Romeo G1 was a passenger car produced by the Italian car manufacturer Alfa Romeo . It was launched in 1921 as the successor to the Alfa Romeo 40-60 HP . While the previous models were developed under the original brand name "ALFA", the G1 immediately appeared under the brand name "Alfa Romeo".

The designer was Giuseppe Merosi , with Enzo Ferrari , who was a works driver at Alfa Romeo at the time, who contributed the main ideas to this project. Under the hood was the first Alfa Romeo six-cylinder engine . With an original displacement of 6567 cm³, the engine developed 65 hp at 1750 rpm. A little later the engine was revised, now at 6330 cm³ it developed 70 hp at 2100 rpm. The maximum speed was 120 km / h. The wheelbase was 340 cm.

The car was also used for racing, but with only moderate success.

Production ended in 1922. The G1 wasn't a success. A total of 50 vehicles were created and sold in Australia . One vehicle still exists in New Zealand .

The planned successor model G 2 remained a project.
